Carter McAllister and Timothy Schmedes have been lifetime friends and met professionally while working at a larger CPA firm located in Palm Beach County.
Carter focused on Business and International Taxation and Tim specialized in Individual, Tax Transaction Planning and Estate Tax Planning.
We found that their individual fields complemented each other’s in surprising, and what turned out to be inseparable, ways. Technology and tax law changes affect both industries providing an opportunity to combine and consolidate our services under one roof.
This made them eager to cultivate their own practice, one that effectively intersects their expertise with their respective interests. They believe that what wins a deal and what makes a creative business thrive is the passion that drives it. Choosing to specialize in a field means that you are completely devoted to it, and that you will protect it as if it were your own. That is the energy that sets them apart.

After both parting from their prior CPA firm, Tim and Carter opened Schmedes McAllister & Associates in 2018. Since then, they've facilitated the success of many clients from various industries. In 2019, they brought on Associate Corbin Walker to work with Real Estate companies, developers, and investors. He brings an exceptional level of enthusiasm, dedication, and nuanced perspective that makes their firm the holistic solution for creative clients.

Phillip C. McAllister
Philip C. (Carter) McAllister has years of experience as a certified public accountant. He worked for Nowlen, Holt & Miner P.A. from 2014 to 2016 in their Wealth Management and Tax division, specializing in tax efficient asset allocation, taxation, and individual and business services.
In 2018, he and Tim Schmedes founded their own firm, Schmedes McAllister and Associates. His current specialties include individual, business, and international tax return preparation and consultation. Additionally, he advises clients on their estate, investment, and retirement matters. Carter’s expertise expands beyond document preparation, consultation, and advising; he also represents clients in IRS hearings regarding late filings, back taxing and client account resolutions.

Tim Schmedes is a Partner in Tax and Business Services at Schmedes McAllister and Associates CPA (“SMACPA”). Tim is one of the founding Partners of SMACPA. Tim’s primary focus is servicing businesses, trusts, individuals and high net worth clients. Tim specializes in tax compliance, representation in front of taxing agencies, tax planning, estate planning, retirement planning, and the preparation of various tax returns for individuals, businesses, trusts, and estates.
Tim’s experience includes assisting clients in the sale of business and personal property, wealth management, tax planning, business agreements, and outside CFO consulting. Furthermore, Tim is a Certified Financial Planner and assists clients in investment allocations, and overall financial plans.
